When a JunkStopper truck drives away from your Las Vegas home, where does everything go? Here is a transparent breakdown of the actual facilities and processes that handle material after pickup.
Republic Services Transfer Stations
Clark County's primary waste infrastructure is managed by Republic Services, which operates transfer stations throughout the valley. Standard non-recyclable junk is weighed, inspected, and transferred to the Apex Regional Landfill — Nevada's largest solid waste facility located north of the valley.
Apex Regional Landfill
The Apex Regional Landfill in North Las Vegas is one of the largest permitted landfills in the western United States. It accepts standard municipal solid waste and construction debris after processing at transfer stations. JunkStopper uses permitted Clark County facilities that route to Apex for non-recyclable material.
Certified E-Waste Recyclers
Electronics are taken to certified e-waste recycling facilities in the Las Vegas area — not transferred to Apex. These facilities disassemble electronics and process each component: metals recovered for smelting, plastics processed separately, and hazardous components like mercury and lead isolated for safe disposal.
Certified Appliance Recyclers
Refrigerators, air conditioners, and other refrigerant-containing appliances go to certified appliance recyclers who recover refrigerants under EPA supervision before processing the metal and components.
Donation Centers
Usable items go to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and other Las Vegas area organizations before any disposal decision is made.
